Today Bod for tea is one year old. I can hardly believe it.
When I pressed publish on 31 December 2011 it was a moment of sheer panic and sheer hope. After the birth of our premature miracle in China I went to a place inside myself that I struggled to find my way back from. It's a threadbare cliche but I was lost and I needed to find myself again. Tippy-tapping away in my little corner of cyberspace gave me signposts along that journey, a creative outlet, therapy, fun and the beautiful gift of meeting some fabulous bloggers along the way.
And what a year it was... (prepare to duck, low flying annual round-up on the way).
In January I confessed I was an ex-fitness fanatic and a bad Mummy and finally lost my Twitter cherry.
In February I launched the Fussy Eaters Support Club, had a makeover thanks to the fabulous Shabby Blogs, wrote my first guest post over at Mummy from the Heart (thank you Mich for being such a wonderful supporter of new bloggers), published our birth story and revealed that my husband stabbed me.
In March I shared a small moment in time and our top 5 children's books and wondered when did I forget how to relax.
April brought a surprise nomination for the MAD awards, more wondering about toddler eating habits and the realisation that I don't have control of my patience.
In May I was particularly homesick, lost control of my temper again in PAUSE and started the final countdown to our last attempt at a second child.
In June I realised it's ok to be a pessimist and shared my top tips for moving country with a toddler.
In July we came home (yaaay!), I confessed I shave like a bloke and that I'm a retro Mum through and through.
In August I shared my fav music to spin to, and told the tale of the spider and the maypole.
In September I explained why I was in training for nursery school, felt the twinge and launched the Parenting Around The Planet guest post series.
In October I wondered when babysitting is just parenting, had lusty thoughts for a new baby bag and realised I'm an un-collector.
November brought sobbing, a job vacancy for a bloggers laptop and the realisation that I'm not ready for the 'but why?' questions to begin.
Finally, in December I offered a tutorial for making a Christmas sticker for your blog.
(Ok, you can get up again, it's over.)
Over the last twelve months I've joined in some lovely linkys including Reasons to be Cheerful over at Mummy from the Heart, Listography at Kate Takes 5, the Writing Workshop at Sleep is for the Weak, and Dear So and So at Three Bedroom Bungalow. Thank you to these fab ladies!
Blogging has brought me many gifts but reflecting back on this blogoversary the most important is the realisations that come from reading back over a year of scribbles, seeing our path in scenes from the journey and understanding just how far we've come.
Here's to 2012 y'all. Let's make it another good one.
